Juneau and Nugget Falls, 7/20/2018

 Friday, July 20.
Caitlyn had to work, so I had the morning to explore.  First off , I need to check the rock.  Yep, never disappoints!  There was a bald eagle perched on it.

I decided to walk into Juneau form Caitlyn's.  Caitlyn lives on Douglas Island, Douglas is across the Gastineau Channel from downtown Juneau.  It's about 3 miles from Caitlyn's house to the capitol building.
Caitlyn's house it right in the center of this picture, it has a green roof.

From Douglas Island looking at downtown Juneau.

This is a cool whale fountain that is kind of new to Juneau.  I think it's pretty cool.  They have done a great job with the fountain making it look like the whale is breaching.

State capital building.  If you look at the first window in view on the left, in the second row from the top, you will see Caitlyn!  That's where her desk is!
Went to lunch with Caitlyn, and then while she was finishing up her workday, I decided to hike out to Nugget falls.  I was really anxious to see how the flooding was, since it had peaked just a few hours before.

Nugget Falls was awesome as always!  The trail out to it was totally back to normal.  There was a little glacial silt on some of the plants that had been underwater just hours before, but other than that, you couldn't tell anything was different.

Everything was totally back to normal around the Mendenhall Glacier.
