Enjoy the Journey? Big Cottonwood Half Marathon 5/13/2017

Deena, Joni, Rachel and I signed up to do the Vigor Big Cottonwood Half Marathon.
We started our training for our half marathon the first week of February.  We each ran our week day runs on our own, but ran our long training runs together.  If we were out of town, we sent pictures of our runs....so it was like we were doing them together!
Juneau, Alaska, running one by myself, and one with Caitlyn!

Deena's picture for that week!

Dean ran this one in Cancun with me.

Deena and Joni getting their run done.
(Rachel wasn't home from her mission yet)

 Helena, Montana....by myself.
Meanwhile....
These guys were doing their runs without me.....I'm kind of glad, looks cold!

Running down Rose Canyon

 Running down Little Cottonwood Canyon
Big shout out to Deaner, he would take us up the different canyons to do our long runs!
Dean dropped us off at Snowbird for this run.

On this run, we ran from Greg's house to my house, about 12.3 miles.  Along the way was a sign advertising the race we were training for!

Our last training run together was down Big Cottonwood Canyon, the actual race route.

It's GO time!
We had to catch the bus at 4:30 a.m.
We were all well prepared for this race, and it was great weather, and beautiful scenery!
Let's do this!
Here is Deena pushing through some pretty painful miles.

Less than 2 miles to go, finishing strong!

A picture of Teri taking pictures of us as we cross the finish mat!  I love that feeling!
We had great cheerleaders at the finish line.  If you want to see the actual finish....click on this link.

Celebrating Deaner's birthday 5/11/2017

Dean and I went on a bike ride from our house to downtown, and then caught Trax back to West Jordan.  This picture is taken in the Peace Gardens on about 9th South.
Then dinner at Grandma's!  Amanda was in town, so we had 2 out of 3 kids there.
That's pretty good for us!

(Mike and kids were in Montana, Caitlyn was in Alsaka)

Amanda left before we got a picture.

5/7/2017 Shoshone Falls, Twin Falls, Idaho

Dean and I decided to take a mini vacation and go check out the Shoshone Falls.
First, we had to check on our good friend Bob Quigley in Rupert,Idaho, Had to make sure he was behaving!
We sure miss that guy.

We got to watch base jumpers jumping off the 486 foot Perrine bridge.

Our hotel had a great view of the Twin Falls Temple.

 Shoshone Falls.
Absolutely amazing!
It is 212 ft, 45 ft taller than Niagara.
I read that the flow of water in May got up to 20,000 cfs.  5 times larger than its normal flow.

The picture above is how we saw the falls, the picture below is how it usually looks this time of year.

If you take about 3 miles hike, you get to the place Evel attempted to jump the Snake River.

This is the ramp for the jump.

This is looking at the span he was supposed to jump.

Next we went to see Twin Falls.
Twin falls was very anti-climatic compared to Shoshone.
