2018-10-31 Happy Halloween!

Halloween morning walk with Alli took us to the place Dean gave me my engagement ring!  Things have changed up there, but it was fun to see that spot!

We also walked pasted the "Devil's Worshipers" church.  I have no idea what it is, but in high school we would go there and get scared to death!  Two blasts from the past!

The Michigan kids!
 Dex, Nora, and Miles

The Utah kids
Braden, Hanna, Rex and Livy
Rex was the cutest monkey with a big yellow and black hat!
He had no idea what was going on....and then he liked it!

This is my Halloween costume.  Too soon?!

I kept it on all evening while we sat out by the fire.  Several people knew what I had gone through, and really enjoyed this, others just looked at me like I was really weird.
Dean's costume may have also been "too soon".  As I posted in a previous post, he had stitched a couple days earlier.  Several people thought this was a real injury!

Lana and Carlene joined us out at the fire again this year.
 It was a fun evening!

Cabin update, 10-2018

October cabin progress

Dean and Braden finishing up the medal roof on the cabin.

The fire code requires you to put sheetrock up under exterior wood.  Weird, but ok.

Then Dean put on the tongue-and-grove soffit, and then the medal fascia makes it look finished!

We did have to take a little break, and go get Dean's finger stitched up...

but then back to work!

The last piece of fascia!

The trusses for the garage finally arrived!

Our neighbor up by the cabin, Ren Egbert, and Braden helped Dean set the garage trusses.

Roof complete!
Window in, and house wrap on.  That was our goal to get done before we closed it up for the winter.

 So much painting!

The fall up here is so beautiful!

Since the weather is still good, Dean decided to start on the siding.  It's beyond what we wanted to get done this year, but we will keep going as long as we can still get up to the cabin without snowmobiles.

Cabin neighbor Steve Hansen and Dean and I put up these big pieces of hardy board.  They were heavy!

Dean painted the hardy board, and started with the shingles in the gables.

He got the back of the cabin siding totally done the day before we left for Michigan.  We will work on it weather permitting....otherwise, this is it for this year.
