Christmas 2010!!

After visiting with our extended families, it was time to go home and start on some of our own Christmas traditions.
On Christmas Eve we open the presents from each other, leaving the presents from Santa to open in the morning.

Dex was excited, but Dex is always excited, and had no idea what was going on.

Amanda helping Dex unwrap one of his presents.

He loved the "Hammer Truck" So many buttons to push!

Dex didn't quite understand why his dad took his truck away from him. Poor Mike was trying to be a good dad and get it out of the box for Dex.

Happy again

Didn't take long for Dex to catch on to opening presents!

Dex and his Great Grandma Jenson. Dex takes his playing seriously!

It was fun to have my parents come over for some of our Christmas Eve. They were chicken and left before it got dangerous.

I'm showing off some of my treasures. I'm trying to make a fashion statement by showing the cute scarf from H&M that Braden got me, the awesome scarf Amanda made for me, the earrings and barrette that Amanda got me from the walking mall in Winchester. All of them are my favorites! I'm working on figuring out how to wear them all at the same time.

Another tradition that we have is playing a game that Santa brings on Christmas Eve. This years game was "Farkle." It was really fun. Amanda couldn't understand why the rest of us kept taking statistically unwise risks. She won of course. That was OK, because during the Bingo game, Amanda didn't win a single round.

After playing games for hours, Braden and Mike decided to get back to the gifts they had opened...remote control helicopters. (watch for the black arrows to help spot the helicopters)

Armchair pilots...that didn't last long, time to head up to the family room where there were less obstacles.
This got pretty intense. As Mike and Braden worked on their piloting skills, the rest of us feared for our lives!
No animals were injured in the making of the post. (the wisemen weren't that lucky, but no animals were injured. And really, doesn't every nativity scene need at least one helicopter crash into the manger?)

Ever wonder what happens when out of control helicopter meets defenseless baby? "It's all fun and games till someone loses an eye"!

Dex left Grandma's house crying....not quite the "Baby's first Christmas" I had imagined.

Our neighbors the Wallises have a great tradition on Christmas morning of a yummy breakfast of French toast and some amazing syrup! One year we may actually get the recipe from them, but for now, letting them do the cooking works for us! Thanks Pam and Steve!
Back home, Braden continues honing the helicopter skills. Watch out for that chandelier!
Yes that is one of the helicopters in the light in our entryway.

Yay! Dex forgave us for the mishap on Christmas Eve, and came back for more!
Originally we got this helmet for Dex so he could go for bike rides with Grandpa Deaner, but after seeing how Mike and Braden fly those helicopters, having Dex in a helmet anytime he is a Grandma's house isn't a bad idea.....
....um, Dex thought it was a bad idea. Not sure Dex is loving his first Christmas

On Christmas Day we have a turkey dinner.
Dex had turkey and fruit loops. Worked for him!

We went over to Mike and Amanda's.
Nothing like shooting and killing animals to get you in the Christmas spirit!
In all the time we spent together, we never took a photo of all of us together! Right before we left Mike and Amanda's we snapped this photo. Caitlyn will be leaving Monday to go back to Logan, so not sure when we will have a chance to have everyone together again.
We had a great Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all....

...and to all a good night.

Dinner at Chenelle's

My niece Chenelle invited us over for dinner on Christmas Eve. It was great to spend time with her family, not to mention the great dinner she fed us. Her condo was decorated so cute, and we also got to see the week old puppies that I forgot to take pictures of.

Chenelle is my sister Dianna's daughter. Here's Dianna.

This is Ari, Dianna's granddaughter.

Thanks Chenelle, that was a fun way to spend Christmas Eve.

(we also spent time with the extended Ellis family, but I forgot my camera, so I'll try to borrow some photos from someone and post some later)
