Senior Games 10-7-2016

Five days after running the St George marathon, I got to go back down to St. George and play in the Sr. Games.
Action shots aren't always the best!

My friend Lorna and my mom came to cheer me on.

Our most loyal supporter, Wayne Diamond, (one of my teammates husband) took bronze in the triathlon.  Good job Wayne!

We played games on Friday, and Saturday, and had a break on Sunday, so we decided to hike Angels Landing.  Not the best way to give our legs a rest, but it sure was beautiful!

 My awesome team!

The chipmunks were quite friendly!  (Notice the one on my hand!)

 Natalie and Wayne
Natalie and Wayne do a "pay it forward".  They gave a new little toy to this kid, and now he is to pay it forward somehow.

Random strangers joining our photo...um, ok.

 Oh yeah, more volleyball!
We played games on Monday and Tuesday.
We played for the Bronze, but lost.
My cute cheerleaders:  My Dad, My Mom, and Lorna
My roommate for the week,  Ally, and my mom.

Hiking the "Narrows" above St. George.
Every once in  while I have to face my fears, so I do this slot canyon.
Really bad idea, but I keep doing it.

This door!  We messed with this stupid door all week long.  Finally on the last day, we fixed it.

Team: VIFG  (Volleyball is for girls)

No subs, no injuries!  Yay us!
I like them.

St George Marathon 10/1/2016

 St George Marathon, 2016

Waiting for buses at 5 a.m.

Our bus arrived at the start line at 6;45 a.m., which was supposed to be start time.  This is the first time since we have been running this marathon that it didn't start on time.  Only a couple of minutes late.  We didn't have to wait around like we usually do.  At the start line, it wasn't freezing cold....not a good sign.  That means it will be HOT at the finish line.
Coming into the finish line!  I had a great run until mile 20,  Then slowed, I'm going to say it was because of the heat, not because I totally wimped out.

 The finishers!
Brandon, Julie, Ej, and Laura
Good job guys.  I found out later, that all of us slowed for the last 6 miles.
Dean isn't up to running yet, but he is a great cheerleader!  My mom was great at the finish line, telling me I was awesome, and that she thinks that is neat that I can do that.  Thanks Mom.

I can't be sore this week, because I have to come back to St. George to play volleyball in the Sr. Games.  My best chance of recovery, I think, is to use the foam roller on my legs.  This is right when I walked in from the marathon.  Got to do anything I can to avoid being sore this week.
(yes, this hurts!)

Me and my sister in law Julie showing off our finisher's medals and lovely race shirts.

We all stayed at our dear friend Lorna's house.  She made us feel so welcome.  It was so fun to visit with her after all these years.  Lorna was my babysitter while I was growing up.
