Boston RACE DAY! April 20, 2015

It's go time!
Dean waiting to board the bus.
Dean had injured his calf muscle 2 weeks before, and hadn't run a single step since.  We had no idea how things were going to go on this race.

I was in Boston, hanging around the finish line.  I found a place where I could watch the start of the race!  So cool to be watching where Dean was at that moment!
Meanwhile, in
 Hopkinton, Massachusetts
This is where the marathon starts.  Dean was being the perfect husband, and taking pictures of his experience so he could share them.  Yep, he is pretty cool.....and fast.
 Check out all the porta-potties!
Those are all porta-potties in this picture too!

Heading to the start line of the
BOSTON MARATHON!

.

And they are off and running!  Awesome cheerleaders all along the route!

And here he comes!  His calf muscle didn't bother him at all.  This was one excited runner!  He was just about to finish running the Boston Marathon.
I watched as with tears in his eyes he looked at the crowds cheering for all the runners.  He took these next pictures as he was finishing the race.

Yep, that is the finish line right there.

All the runners got "space blankets" at the finish.
(cool picture Dean!)

We finally found each other after the race.  What an amazing experience!

Boston Trip, Rhode Island 4-19-2015

Spent the night in  Billerica, Massachusetts.  Went to church in Billerica, and in Sacrament meeting the bishop mentioned that that day, April 19th, was the anniversary of the Battle at Lexington and Concord (the shot heard round the world)...which happened within their ward boundaries.  We decided since we were in that area, on that day, we'd better go check it out.

From Billerica we drove to see Plymouth Rock.  How funny is this?  The rock has been moved several time, so it's not in it's original spot.  One time while they were moving it it fell from the truck and broke.  People have used pieces of it for their front steps.  Anyway, it has been whittled down to this small rock.  They had to build a monument around it to make it look like a big deal.

Next up, Rhode Island.  What a beautiful state!  I love the east coast!

We carb loaded at PieZoni's in Barrington, Rhode Island.  Then headed back to the hotel so Dean could get a good nights sleep....Big day tomorrow!

Boston 2nd day 4-18-2015

Day 2 in Boston included lots of walking on the Freedom Trail, and lots of food.

Ej in front of Paul Revere's house

 Loved the streets of Boston.

 Old North Church

Crossing over the Charles River to get to the USS Constitution

Taking the ferry on the Boston inner harbor.  Yep, it was a little cold!

Some guy told us we had to experience the "Lobster Tail" at the Pastry Shop.  Apparently so did everyone else!

We ate off this pastry for days!

Another must, was Boston Cream Pie at the Parker House.  Talk about rich!  Can we count this as "carb loading"?
Fun day in Boston, next time we come here will be RACE DAY!

Boston Trip -1st day in Boston 4-17-2015 (catching up)

Boston!
This city is awesome!

I have a friend from high school that works in the John Hancock Building.  He invited us to check out Boston from the observation lobby.  The view was incredible!  Thanks David!

Next, we went to check out the finish line for the Boston Marathon!  How cool is this?!

Number and packet pickup.  It's starting to get real now.

The runners get to sign this wall.

We did a little bit of the Freedom Trail around Boston.  Planning on coming back and finishing the rest another day.

Caitlyn recommend that we eat at Mr. Dooley's.  Good call Caitlyn!
