Lake Mead 9-28-2018

Bob and Pam invited us to go to Lake Mead with them for a few days.
We had great weather, and really enjoyed spending time with these guys!

It was just the four of us, so we had all the skiing we wanted!

We went exploring, and found this shipwreck.  Dean and I had to hike up and check it out.

Wild horses were fun to see.  Bob and Pam know this lake so well, the could take us right to where the animals would be.
Watching these two brothers have a blast together was so fun!

 Coyote

 Really cool rock formations.
Bob trying to get the boat in just the right spot for picture was super entertaining!

 Wild burros

After having two amazing days on the lake, the wind picked up just as we were about to pull the boat off the lake.

We spent Saturday going through the Valley of Fire.

This car represents how old Bob and Pam are! (1957)  This fun old car was parked in the Valley of Fire.  The owner was happy to show it off, and have us take pictures with it.

the bird 9/23/2018

Doing a little catching up on the blog....
So we were out in the backyard, and this bird flies in and lands on the grass.

Then landed on the bench, and then tried to land on Livy!

 Landed on Hanna!
This was so bizarre! Friendliest bird, so strange.

Stayed the night, and the next morning, and then flew away, and we never saw him again.

Kanab, Sept 20-22, 2018

We headed to Kanab with the McGraths for a fun weekend of hikes, and spending time with Jeff and Julie.  The first evening we were there, we hiked to the waterfall at the end of Jeff and Julie's street.  It was a great hike, but no water in the waterfall!

We were hoping to get picked in the lottery for the Wave, it was a long shot, and that didn't happen.  It was fun to see how the 10 people each day get picked from the hundreds that apply.

Julie was taking a tour to White Pocket, and invited us to go with her.  It is similar to the Wave, except it is a long drive, and there is no permit needed.
At White Pocket, there were amazing sites

Here were are with the McGraths, and the couple that Julie took on the tour, they were Stephen and Annette from Germany.  This was a fun group!

Those little specks up on the top, that's Dean and me.
