Ally comes to the cabin 6-26-2020

I was so excited to have my dear friend Ally come play with us at the cabin! Ally's husband Matt died February 19, 2019. This weekend is their anniversary, and she decided she wanted to spend it with us. I loved having her down there with us! We didn't take many pictures, mostly just solved all the worlds problems!

We hiked Maple Canyon. As always, it was very entertaining watching the rock climbers.

Mount Ellen 6-23-2020

We talked Nathan Cox into doing hike with us! This county high point is for Garfield county. There were actually two goals here, the highest point is called Mount Ellen high point, and it is a point along the ridge. Then, a little further there is Mount Ellen Peak. It's about 16 feet lower than the ridge point, but it looks taller. So we had to do both.

The mailbox where you sign in is on the ridge. We should have turned around here, but Dean and I decided we also wanted to do Mount Ellen Peak. (the peak right behind me in this photo) There were thunder storms all around us, and you can see from the pictures, there was no place to hide from the storms.

While we were hiking the peak, there were terrible wind gusts! One of which blew both Dean and I over. We hurried and snapped a picture, and got off the peak!

From this angle, the peak looks like the high point, (the cone shape just right of the middle of mountain) but there is a place on the ridge that is higher.

Delano Peak 6-22-2020

We met Dean's friend Nathan Cox at Big John's Flat after driving about 10 miles on dirt road. The trail head was another 1.5 miles up the dirt road. It was a steep 1.5 mile hike to the summit. We came down another way so we could go check out the really awesome waterfall on Poison Creek.

This takes care of Piute and Beaver counties!

2020-6-19 Danny and Annette, Bob and Pam to cabin

We met Dean's brother Bob and his wife Pam for dinner in Mount Pleasant. The brothers showed up wearing gray shorts and black shirts....hard to tell they are related!😂

Their cousin Danny, and his wife Annette joined us at the cabin, and we had a great evening catching up on everyone!

Bull Mountain 6-18-2020

Bull Mountain is the high point for Box Elder County.

It was a short hike, after a VERY long and rough road! We were on dirt roads for the last 25 miles, and the last 7 of them were horrible!

Lot of picture taking...and then realizing that we were on the wrong peak!

Ok, this is Bull Mountain! There is even a container with a notebook in it to sign, so we know we are in the right place!

The peak in the right side of this picture is the one we took pictures on first.

Oh well.

Box Elder county is done!

Mine Camp hike 6-17-2020

We hiked to the summit of Mine Camp Peak, Millard County high point.

This was a short hike, but really steep! I took it too fast and got altitude sick. My head felt like it was going to explode. Note to self: don't do that!

Got my picture, and didn't die, so counting that as a success!
