Huka Falls, New Zealand

After an amazing breakfast with the Parkers, it was time to head south.
We hiked to Huka Falls.

The Huka Falls are a set of waterfalls on the Waikato River that drains Lake Taupo. The volume of water flowing through often approaches 220,000 litres per second.

There are tour boats that take people up close to the falls.

Further up the river, there is a hot springs that feeds into the Waikato River.  It's too hot to sit in, so you have to go where the hot springs meets the river, then the temperature is just right.
 Now that's weird..."share a coke with Amanda".

We drove down to Wellington in a downpour.  Many of the streets in Wellington were flooded (it even made the news!).  We decided this was not a good night to camp out, so we broke down and got a hotel called the Abbey Court in a place called Lower Hutt.

Dean found Dr. Pepper!  So far on this trip we haven't been able to find it.  That 12 pack may have to last him the full 3 weeks!
