Alaska, day 9, Skagway day 2...8/5/2017

We were there for the Hottest day EVER in Skagway!

Click here to read the article about it!

Once again, this day started early, with driving up the canyon to view the Northern Lights.  And once again, I only had my phone, so not great pictures, but you get the idea.

After an early breakfast with some of Caitlyn's friends, (Amber, Sassy, and Phil) we decided to hike to the Yakutania Point.

This caterpillar dropped onto Caitlyn's glasses....she freaked a little!
Speaking of freaking, I don't have a pictures to go with it, but a raven attacked Caitlyn on our way to breakfast this morning.  First time in my life I heard Caitlyn scream like a girl!  I was getting too close to it's young one, so it attacked my young one.  Seems only fair!  Oh to have a vidoe of that!
Only contact made was it messed up Caitlyn's hair.  Not to be mixed up with the birds in the Disney movie helping Snow White do her hair, well, kind of the same thing.
 We hiked this loop.

This is the best place ever!  Amber told us about it when she picked us up from the airport, and said "this is where you will eat lunch today".  Then she took us to our hotel.  We did as we were told, and it was amazing.  So much so that we went back the next day for lunch!

About this point, it's getting hot!
Notice my jacket finally came off.

We were eating our lunch that we picked up from the Lil Log Cabin Bakery, and Chris Manousakis from our neighborhood in W. Jordan found us!  We told him about the job in Skagway, he took it, and he loves it, and they love him!  So fun to see him!

Caitlyn and I took a train ride up the pass that the gold miners took during the gold rush.  The scenery was amazing!

 The US Canada border

After the cruise ships leave, Skagway is almost a ghost town!  We walked down to the dock to watch the seals eat the salmon.  Doesn't take much to entertain us!  (but it was really cool!)

This ladder was build because the re-routed the river, and the salmon still needed to get upstream.
The seals hang out at the opening to the ladder, and have all the salmon they could want!

Lovely Skagway

Love your posts about Alaska. Looks like such an incredible vacation. I need to go back, especially if Caitlin is there.
