Talk about AWESOME!

PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END

The last 4 days have been AWESOME!
Friday evening Braden came into town!  He picked up Julie in Kanab and brought her up so they could run with us in the Utah Valley Half and Full Marathon.
Julie and I did the half.  Amanda was supposed to run the half, she had completed her training, and just had easy runs left to run, but got soooo sick, that she was unable to run the race.  Julie ran in her spot.
Braden, Dean, and Mike were all running the full marathon.

Saturday June 9, 2012
Utah Valley Marathon
Dean's counselor in the Stake Presidency, President Curtis, and his wife also ran the half marathon.

As did my long time friends Betsy, Erin, and Bart!  These guys are awesome, some of my favorite people!

Michelle was at mile 26, where you can find her at every marathon.  She has her boys ready and waiting for when their dad comes running by.  This is Tyler finishing his 40th Marathon!  So cool!!!

Caitlyn, Dex, and Manda came to cheer on the runners.
Dex thought ringing the cow bell was the best!

Here comes Deaner.  That makes 12 marathons for him!
Dex was so excited to see Grandpa Deaner.

 Showing off our finishers medals.

Manda running to high five Mike.  Great job on your first Marathon!  Mike you are so cool!

Braden finishing his 10th Marathon!  He really didn't have much  time for training, he was too busy winning over Hanna...(hopefully a post on that soon, she is coming up with him next month)
Braden, Dex, and Caitlyn

Dean, Erika, Mike, Braden and Julie
Yay for the runners!  No injuries!  Great course, and great weather.

Greg was kind enough to let us soak in his hot tub.  Thanks so much Greg!
We offered to take Dex for the afternoon.  Mike needed to sleep....we had to get up at 2:45 a.m. to get to the buses on time.
Manda needed a few hours to work on her dissertation.
And of course, the photo showing off our new race shirts!

Monday was the big day for Amanda.  She was to present her dissertation to her committee.  If she passes, this is the last step in earning her Phd.

Dean, Mike and I all went down to watch her present.  She did awesome.  I haven't a clue what she was talking about, but she said it with such confidence, I believed her...whatever it was she was saying!

Apparently the committee also believed her....She passed!!!!
(really, was there ever a doubt?!)

Amanda Francis, Phd., with her proud mom!

This poster, which is posted in the math building at BYU, is Amanda's.  This is her stuff.  No idea what it is telling you, but there it is!

Time to unwind.  Manda and Dex came and hung out with us.  Amanda is feeling a huge relief.  Closing that chapter in her life.

Kass showed up on her bike and also hung out with us.

Tuesday we got up and drove down to St. George to attend the temple with Cristian.  He will be leaving for his mission to Detroit in less than a month.

Wayne, Dorleen, Jeff, Julie, Cristian, Erika, and Dean.

On our way down to St. George, we got a call from Amanda.  She had her first doctors appointment this morning, and had a fun surprise....she is expecting TWINS!!!!!
Just as one chapter ends, another one starts.
We are so excited!
For now, they are calling these babies Pete, and Pete.  Weird, but better than Wolflazer, which, if you remember, is what they called Dex before he arrived!

Manda is due 12/29, but not expected to go that long. Sometime in December is what she is planning. Hope Dex likes babies!!!

I had a feeling there was going to be a pregnancy announcement at the end, but WOW what a great surprise! How fun......I mean how tiring and overwhelming. I sort of understand what she is about to go through (not the pregnancy part, but the next few years). Good thing grandma lives so close, right?! We are so excited for them, and you guys too.
