South Tent Mountain 7/6/2017

So, not a lot of pictures from this hike.  Mostly I just wanted to live through it.
Meet South and North Tent Mountains.
Kind of a short hike.  A little steep.  Only took us 1 hour, 40 minutes to hike....

Now for the rest of the story.
The road out to these peaks was ridiculous!  Can't even explain, except I asked Dean to let me out of the car as he drove through some parts!  We filled some puddles in the road with rocks and branches hoping the Yukon would make it through them.  The directions we were following were nothing like the roads we really found, and when the book said go right, they really meant go left.  So we were kind of frazzled when we finally started hiking.

We never did find a trail, so we just headed up a drainage ditch toward the peak.
We were almost to the ridge, and we could see lightening and hear thunder over the peak we were aiming for.  We stopped short of the ridge, hoping the storm would pass, and we would be able to summit this peak safely.  No such luck.
We decided to make a run for it!  We practically ran along this ridge out to the peak, snapped our pictures of us on the top, and of the monument marker, and ran down!

There was no way I was going to do a pose with my hiking poles in the air.  It was scary enough just holding them in this lightening storm!

There were actually 2 survey markers on this peak.

After we made it down alive, we decided to do our selfie picture.

Glad to have that peak checked off our list!
This hike put us over half way to our goal of "bagging"  the high point in every county in Utah.
