Deseret Peak 8-17-2015

We got up early to hike the high point in Tooele County, Deseret Peak in the Stansbury Mountain Range.  Too bad for us, a cop also go up early!  Not quite sure what this was all about.  He gave Dean a ticket for not updating his address on his drivers license when we moved, but the address on the ticket was our new one.  When we went home to change our address, it showed that we had already changed it, so they dismissed the ticket.  Kind of weird.
Anyway....
This was a great hike!  8.1 miles roundtrip from the trailhead.  Took us just under 5 hours.

2 1/2 hours to get to the peak.  We spent 30 minutes at the top, eating lunch and enjoy the amazing views!

Found the geological survey markers, for some reason there were two of them up there.

Many of the peaks we hike have a place to sign your name, and the date that you made the summit.

Had a nice little photo session, then made our way back down.

Notice all the smoke in the background?  That is from the fires in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.  The views were awesome even with the smoke.
