Manor Lands 6-24-2010

We went up to Manor Lands for Wednesday and Thursday. We love it up there, especially when it's in the 90's down in the valley.Grandpa and Grandma Ellis, Lee and Chaille Ellis

This is Ej and Dean. We rode the 4 wheelers in search of wildlife. Had to get out of Manor Lands before we saw some deer.

This little squirrel was not shy at all! He really didn't care that we were there, he just went about his business.

Ok, so I have a lot to learn about taking video, but didn't have much warning that it was going down.

Apparently this is Grandma and Grandpa's idea of a good time. They are taking down the trees that have been killed by the bark beetle.

After they take down the trees, they cut up the big stuff for firewood, then gather up the small stuff, load it in the little trailer, and take it to the burn lot. At the burn lot, Grandpa has this great system of dumping the wood. Before loading the trailer up, they lay a wire down, and pile the wood on top of the wire. Then when it's time to dump the load, Grandpa finds something, like a fence post, to tie the wire to, and drives forward, dumping the load. (see video) Pretty smart system!

Now it was time to play!

We headed up to Lym Lake. Perfect weather for a ride!
There we so many fallen trees. We got around several, but this one ended our quest for Lym Lake.Ok, the quest didn't end, Dean kept trying different ways, but finally we had to give up.

We went and explored this old cabin instead.
"Law Office, may I help you?
It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it!
