2021-11-20 Prep and the West Jordan reception.

The family is starting to gather in Utah!
The Francis family arrived on Nov 16.  Braden's kids were so excited to have the Francis kids here!
Caitlyn and James arrive on Nov 18.
Nora and Dean helped with the scrapbook, that would double as a guest book at the reception.

Letterboard done.

Mike and kids came and hung out with us while Amanda was a guest lecturer at BYU.

James' sweet mom, Patty, send flowers before she arrived.  So fun to have fresh flowers in the house!

Teri and I often show up wearing similar outfits.  This time was no exception!
Playing at Braden's house the night before the reception.

Deena brought a parachute over for the kids to play with....it was a huge hit!

Karaoke had potential...except Lucy refused to give up the mic!

The package of drink cups was put to good use.

Hangin' out with James and Caitlyn

Just to make sure we get some wedding panic stories...
The morning of the West Jordan reception, Caitlyn called the place she reserved the venue from.  Of course, it was Saturday morning, and nobody was in the office!  A little panic as to how we were going to get the key!  Dean ran over to the building, and there was a cleaning lady there that told him he had to get the key from City Hall.  So Dean ran to City Hall, and of  course, all offices were closed.  He went back over to Pioneer Hall, and there was a sign in the window of a number to call for after hours problems.  He called, and crisis over, the guy said someone was supposed to get a key for Caitlyn, and they didn't, so he was very kind and said he would come unlock it for us in the afternoon.
That was a close one!

We all went over to Pioneer Hall to set up for the reception.  We snapped some photos, and then Amanda took all the grandkids to my house while the adults set up.

We are ready, let the fun begin!

Half way through the reception, the moms got to do a "tying the knot" ceremony.

 The siblings
gave James a survival kit to welcome him to the Ellis family

They cut their cute little cake.

Not everyone was having a blast!

Opening cards and presents.

My nephew Derek and I have this stupid picture that we sneakily re-gift back and forth.  He got it back to me through Caitlyn's wedding!  Time to get creative!
Dean's good friend Brent Todd is a professional artist.  He painted this picture and gave it to Caitlyn and James.

A closer look...

It has their names on one of the trees!

This reception was on Saturday, Nov 20.  We fly to Michigan Nov 21, and then drive to Indiana for the wedding dinner on Nov 23.
