Dam 2 Dam 2-20-10

Today we ran the Dam 2 Dam race around Sand Hollow Reservoir. It was so dang cold!

Ej had her worst race ever, but makes it easier for next race to be an improvement, right? 3 minutes slower than her last 5 mile race, 8th in her age division....ouch. This run "kicked her trash"! Some random guy gave her this bag because he didn't want to have to carry it on the airplane home.

This wasn't Dean's best race either, but it was good enough to give him a 1st place in his age division. Not as fast as his last 5 mile race. After talking about what might have been our problem this race, it could have been that we gave blood and ran a 1/2 marathon earlier this week, ran on gravel instead of asphalt, had a wicked head wind, or all of the above. It was still fun to have run it.

...and then there's Julie. I guess chasing after those 7 kids really pays off. She won 1st in her age division, and 5th overall! She just keeps getting better and better! It is really fun to have her run these races with us! Great job Julie!!!

No race post would be complete without showing off our new race shirts.

You guys must have a lot of race shirts about now! The last time I ran around Sand Hollow was when Moose insisted that we take the dogs (once upon a time we had 2 labs, remember?) to the lake. The underexercised beasts took off running and didn't come back. I spent a good hour searching for them and found them covered in cactus prickles. Moose stayed in the truck the whole time. Ha ha!

A half marathon, blood donations, and the dam to dam race all in a week? Mike says you guys will either kill yourselves or live forever. Wonder which one. We decided that since joint problems can't really kill a person (right?), you'll probably live forever.

Cool bag, i've got a thing for reusable bags, think they're great!
What a pretty back drop at the finish line, too bad you couldn't enjoy it in the cold.
I actually like running in the cold, think it sort of ices my knees so they don't hurt so bad!
When's the first bike race?

I agree, the wind was brutal. It seemed like cruel punishment to run into the wind for the last section of the race.
