So things don't always go as planned....

Dean and I decided to take a little get-a-way and head to St. George. There was a race down there that would count toward one of our Runners Series races, and there is also a county high point that we haven't hiked yet.  Great time to do both....we thought.
The night before each race, I lay out my clothes for the race so there are no surprises on race day.  Well, that meant that I got my surprise the night before....NO RUNNING SHOES!  Somehow in packing everything, my running shoes didn't get into the suitcase.
My options were, flipflops, high heels, hiking shoes, or Dean offered me his extra pair of running shoes.

Yep, chose the hiking shoes.  They were a little heavier than my running shoes, and much noisier.
They got me to the finish line, and only 2 blisters.

Dean ran the first mile with me, then he picked up the pace and ended up taking first place in his age group.

Connie and Rob were at the finish line with a cold Dr. Pepper for Deaner!  They take such good care of us.

Monday we had planned to do a 10 hour hike.  Signal Peak.  There was a wind warning for that area.  We decided since there were going to be 45 mile an hour winds, and 70 mile an hour wind gusts, it may not be the best day to do a long hike.  We drove up to find the trail-head, so when we go back down to hike it, we would know where we were going.

Yep, this is the road that leads to the trail-head. Apparently we were not meant to "bag" this peak this weekend!

Strangely enough, it has been nice weather since you left us! Who knows when the crazy wind is going to hit?
