Alaska, Dec 8-12, 2021 Wedding celebration

And we are off to Alaska to celebrate Caitlyn and James' wedding.  We met up with Tressa in Seattle, not realizing we were on the same flight with her from SLC to Seattle.  Deena and Kami were on an earlier flight, so they landed in Juneau about an hour before we did.  We got into Juneau around 11 pm, so checked into the hotel (4 points), and started this party Thursday morning.

We had breakfast at a place called Sand Piper.  Next was walking the board walk down toward the tram and to the shops to do a little shopping.

It's like Caitlyn was with us, because I was on the phone with her in this picture.  We met up with Caitlyn and Dean (dean had gone Fred Meyer) and headed to Nugget falls.

From Nugget falls we headed to Auke Bay.

So many cool places to take pictures!
From Auke Bay, we wet to Caitlyn's house and had pizza from the Island Pub.
Back to Juneau, and walked the board walk down to the whale statue.  It was freezing cold!
Back to the hotel where we played cards for hours!

Friday, December 10
We decided to walk the Treadwell Mine trail.

Walking down Sandy Beach was freezing, but beautiful!
Picture at the Totem pole, and then we headed for North Douglas.

While out at North Douglas we were able to watch about 5 humpback whales, a bunch of sea lions, and more amazing scenery!

Next stop was the Red Dog Saloon.

um...ok.

Wandered through town and the shops,
then back to Caitlyn's to play cards .

Saturday, Dec 11th, we had breakfast at Black Moon Koven.
Let's just say it was interesting.  It's been fun eating at all the different places.
Back down to a walk along the boardwalk, cuz that NEVER gets old.
This crow wasn't one bit afraid of us, but I was kind of afraid of him...especially since I didn't have any food for him.

Time to head over and help Caitlyn and James set up for the Juneau parties!
Setting up included redoing the lights in one bar, and spreading out flowers for flower crowns at another bar.  These guys know how to throw a party (or four)!

Making flower crowns at Barnaby Brewing

This is what happens when you ask Juliana to take a picture for you!  Love that girl!
This really was a fun activity, and everyone in attendance participated!  Caitlyn and James have awesome and very supportive friends!

The Newlyweds!

Dean and Greg in a bar....priceless!

After we all made our flower crowns, we headed over to The Clock in the middle of town for a group photo.

Coolest photographer ever!  Takes his own wedding pictures!

Next stop, dinner and trivia at the Imperial Bar.

Our team won Trivia Night!  We got this amazing neon yellow Muncie Extra Large sweatshirt!

Just when you thought the party was over....it was just moved to a new venue.  Carolers and bonfire at Juliana's!

Such a fun, unusual, creative, unexpected, and everything else kind of day!

Sunday, December 12, 2021

Trying hard to enjoy every last second of the Alaska trip, we met up at our hotel, (shout out to Deena for arranging it, in the perfect location!)

Dean, Ej, James, Caitlyn, Kami, Deena, Joni, and Greg

We went out to Forbidden Peak Brewery,  across from Auke Bay, which of course, means amazing scenery!  Standing by the fire, looking over the bay, love it!

Lunch before our flight was at the Sand Bar.
The only photo I have from the Sand Bar is me coming out of the men's room.
Weird way to end this trip, and this blog, but it is what it is....whatever that means!

Till next time.

November 2021 Lake house update

Before

After

So the fridge is the same fridge, our new one is sitting in our truck, waiting for us to bring it in.
The fridge in the "after" picture is in the space where the hallway used to be.  The fake beams had been removed, and the ceilings are now shiplap.  The dark beam in the after picture is where the wall was that had the white shelves in the "before" picture.
Range and range hood are to be delivered tomorrow!
Countertops are ordered, but will be about a month before they are installed.

Before and After looking out at the lake.  They are taken from about the same spot.  Where there was a sliding door, is now a window, and where the utility closet and heater were is where the other window and beam are in the after picture.

ok, this room got complicated....
where the brown box is, is our water meter.  Now it is in the little closet (same spot in the house), but the furnace sits on a platform on top of the water meter.  The house didn't have a furnace, so we had to have duct work done and the furnace installed.  Code wouldn't allow for it to be installed upstairs, and downstairs is so small, that this was our best option.  Next to the small closet that has the furnace and water meter, is a real closet for that little bedroom.  The closet is where the window used to be.  We closed it up because we are building a garage on that side of the house.  They bay window, is gone, and a nice new window is in it's place.

Next is this awkward room at the front of the house.  You can see the electrical box for a reference.
Right under the curtains on the left side of this picture were washer and dryer hookups, and next to the picture, was a tiny little window.
We added stairs, and a bigger window, and put the front door in this space.  Behind the bypass doors are the washer/dryer, and a coat closet.

Where this closet and window was, is now a stairway.  We closed up both the windows on the west side of the house.
On the lake side of the house was a little weird bathroom, and next to that was this bedroom.  Now that space is a family room looking out at the lake, and a nice, small bathroom.

Where the stairs are in the above picture, is where the hallway is now.  The stairs have been moved to to west side of the house.
