Amanda signed us up for a 5k in Winchester Virginia. Amanda won the biggest value random prize, a care package from a spa! Mike also won one of the random prizes, $20 gift certificate at a local restaurant.
Dean ran his fastest race so far (I know I keep saying that, but each race his time gets better!) Dean ran 3.1 miles in 21:35, that's a 6:58 minute mile pace. Dean placed 21 over all men, and 3 in his age division. EJ placed 29th overall women, and 2nd in her age division. Mike walked the first little while with his new bride, she was having knee problems, and then took off running on his own. He placed 42 overall men, and 2nd in his age division. Amanda, with walking the first little bit, decided to run, and ended up 7th in her age division, and 46 over all women! We got these lovely water bottles instead of ribbons or medals.

We Beat Beethoven!
Dean, Erika, and Braden all ran in the "Beat Beethoven" 5k
. The goal here was to complete the 5k (3.1 miles) in less time that it takes for Beethoven's 5th Symphony, which is about 32 minutes. So they started up the music, and away we went. There was somebody there dressed up as Beethoven, to set the pace, so as long as you were ahead of him at the finish line, you would receive a pin saying "I beat Beethoven". Each of us had our personal bests in this race, I guess there is something about a tall weird man in a freaky white wig that thinks he is Beethoven running behind you that motivates you to run faster than you normally would! It was Braden's personal best because it was his first official race, and because he ran fast. Each of us placed in our age divisions. Dean took second in men ages 40-49, and 7th overall, finishing in 22:30 minutes, Erika placed 3rd in women 40-49, and 18th overall with her time of 26:29, and Braden place 3rd in men 20-29, and 13th overall with a 23:30 time.
Oh and we all beat Beethoven with more than 5+ minutes to spare!
